Department: Security Services
Reports To: Project Manager/Lead Security Guard
Employment Type: Full-Time
Security Clearance: T3 Background Investigation Required
Location: Vicksburg, MS and surrounding areas (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facilities)

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking qualified Armed Security Guards to provide professional security services for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facilities. This is a critical role responsible for protecting federal property, personnel, and assets through access control, patrol duties, and emergency response. Guards will work in a 24/7 operation covering multiple locations including harbor facilities, pumping plants, and specialized waterborne units.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Security Operations:

  • Control access to federal facilities by verifying identification and maintaining visitor logs
  • Conduct regular foot and vehicle patrols of assigned areas and perimeter
  • Monitor and respond to security alarms and emergency situations
  • Protect government property against theft, damage, sabotage, and unauthorized access
  • Perform building security checks and equipment inspections

Emergency Response & Safety:

  • Respond to incidents, medical emergencies, and security breaches
  • Provide first aid and CPR as needed
  • Contact emergency services and security management as required
  • Implement emergency procedures and evacuation protocols

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate daily logs and incident reports
  • Prepare detailed written reports of all activities and incidents
  • Document facility inspections and security checks
  • Submit reports to supervisory personnel in timely manner
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Minimum age of 21 years
  • High school diploma or GED from accredited institution
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must pass E-Verify employment eligibility verification
  • Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing, comprehension)

Security Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain favorably adjudicated T3 background investigation
  • Must qualify for Individual Reliability Program (IRP)
  • Compliance with 18 USC 922(g)(9) (Lautenberg Amendment)
  • No disqualifying criminal history

Physical & Medical Requirements:

  • Pass initial and annual Physical Ability Test (PAT)
  • Pass initial and annual medical evaluation
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation

Testing & Screening:

  • Pass initial and periodic drug testing
  • Submit to background investigation and fingerprinting
  • Pass comprehensive security screening
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS & TRAINING

(Training provided by employer)

  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Weapons training and qualification (semiannual)
  • Security guard training program (30+ hours)
  • Authority and jurisdiction training
  • Use of force training
  • Various mandatory federal training programs
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2+ years experience in law enforcement, military, or security services
  • Previous federal facility security experience
  • Knowledge of security equipment and procedures
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
WORKING CONDITIONS & SCHEDULE
  • Schedule: 24/7 operations including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Environment: Indoor/outdoor work in various weather conditions
  • Physical Demands: Extended periods of standing, walking, and patrolling
  • Travel: May be assigned to multiple locations within district
  • Special Assignment: Potential waterborne duty on Mat Sinking Unit (seasonal)
