The purpose of the Correctional Officer position is to maintain an orderly, safe, and secure jail by enforcing established rules and regulations.
Responsibilities include : - Performing intake procedures for incoming prisoners, including fingerprinting, photographing, recording personal belongings, and performing pat or body searches.
- Maintaining written logs, running criminal histories, updating inmate files, escorting prisoners to court, and transporting prisoners to other facilities.
- Supervising prisoner activities, providing commissary, serving inmate meals, and performing emergency first aid or treatment when required.
- Providing security for the courthouse staff, judges, defendants, and spectators; and assessing threats, removing disrupting individuals, and taking individuals into custody.
DUTY FREQUENCY BAND/GRADE Maintains the care, custody, and control of jail facility inmates which includes monitoring behavior to mitigate crime, escape attempts, and/or other related activities; conducts routine rounds; conducts random drug and alcohol tests; enforces facility regulations, policies, and procedures; escorts inmates around facility; and implements defensive tactics and physical restraint to maintain safety and security if necessary.Daily
