Job Description

Scion Executive Search has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for an Executive Director for a respected, mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in Greater Memphis, Tennessee , available immediately.



POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Executive Director will serve as the strategic and operational leader of a high-impact community branch, overseeing programs, people, performance, and partnerships to advance organizational goals and deliver outstanding member experiences.


This role leads a dynamic operation that includes a $2.5M annual operating budget, 3,700 membership units, and a 55,000-square-foot facility. The Executive Director will be responsible for driving membership and program growth, maintaining a best-in-class facility, leading staff and volunteers, and strengthening philanthropic and community engagement, including relationships with local city government and community stakeholders.



RESPONSIBILITIES:

Branch & Community Leadership

• Lead day-to-day branch operations while ensuring programs are high-quality, relevant, and aligned with organizational strategy.
• Serve as a visible community leader and relationship-builder with civic, nonprofit, and corporate partners.
• Strengthen community partnerships that expand reach, impact, and earned revenue.

People & Culture

• Recruit, coach, and retain a high-performing team of staff and volunteers.
• Build an inclusive, accountable culture that supports professional growth and continuous improvement.

Financial & Operational Management

• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial controls to meet revenue and expense targets.
• Ensure resources are aligned with branch priorities and broader organizational goals.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming, well-run facility and a strong member/customer experience.

Fundraising & Volunteer Engagement

• Lead the annual campaign and broader philanthropy efforts, growing donor and volunteer engagement.
• Partner with an advisory board and community leaders to support governance, volunteer leadership, and branch sustainability .

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, business, or a related field preferred.
• 3+ years of senior-level operations/leadership experience in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
• Demonstrated success managing teams, programs, budgets, and community marketing/outreach.
• Experience engaging and developing volunteers and recruiting community leaders for advisory/board service.
• Strong commitment to serving diverse communities and building inclusive environments.
• Proven ability to build and sustain partnerships with municipalities, community organizations, and corporate partners.
• Experience leading within a large or complex organization is a plus.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
This full-time, on-site role offers a base salary of $85,000, relocation assistance, and an excellent benefits package that includes health coverage and paid time off.
