Job Title Operating Room Assistant (Full Time, Evenings, Main Operating Room) Department & Reporting Operating Room – Reports to Supervisor, Main OR Location Bend, OR Pay Range $21.53 - $27.56 Position Overview The Operating Room Assistant is responsible for maintaining a clean and organized operating room environment, providing support with patient and item transport, and preparing equipment and supplies. The role does not directly manage other caregivers. Essential Functions & Duties Maintain a clean environment in the operating rooms. Ensure beds, tables, positioners, and supplies are available and maintained. Support OR staff by cleaning ORs, offices, bathrooms, common areas, pre-op and PACU. Complete unit-specific and annual CBLs and competencies on time. Support the organization’s vision, mission, values, and Value Improvement Practice (VIP-Lean) principles. Provide and maintain a safe environment for caregivers, patients, and guests. Act with professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct; report violations and cooperate with investigations. Deliver customer service and patient care promptly, accurately, and efficiently. Perform additional duties of similar complexity as assigned. Education & Certifications Required: High school diploma or GED. Required: BLS/CPR certification by date of hire. Preferred: None. Experience Preferred: Some institutional housekeeping experience. No specific prior experience required. Personal Protective Equipment Must be able to wear appropriate PPE required to perform the job safely. Physical Requirements Continually (≥75%): Standing and walking, keyboard operation, clear audible speaking voice, and hearing normal speech level. Frequently (≈50%): Sitting, lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling 1-25 lbs. Occasionally (≈25%): Bending, stooping/kneeling/crouching, climbing ladder/step-stool, reaching overhead, lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling 25-50 lbs., grasping/squeezing, hearing whispered speech level. Rarely (≈10%): Climbing stairs. Never (0%): Climbing ladder/step-stool (varies), operating a motor vehicle. Exposure to elemental factors: Rarely (≈10%) wet/slippery area, chemical solution. Never (0%) heat, cold, noise, dust, vibration, uneven surface. Blood-borne pathogen exposure category: risk.
